About Rachel
Hello, I’m Rachel, the heart and soul behind Living Harmony Yoga. I’m a dedicated yoga teacher offering classes for the Cairns Council's Active Living Program. These are FREE Yoga sessions in beautiful outdoor locations across Cairns. In addition to these weekly classes, I offer monthly workshops to dive deeper into yoga and explore relaxation through the sound journeys.
I began my yoga journey in my early 20s, driven by a deep love for both yoga and Buddhism. This passion led me to India, where I immersed myself in many meditation, yoga and silent retreats, diving deep into the transformative power of these practices before embarking on my teacher training.
I completed my 500-hour yoga teacher training in Hatha Yoga, with Shantarasa Yoga Darshana in Adelaide and India. I deepened my practice with Yin Yoga training at Byron Yoga School and explored the healing aspects of Foundations of Yoga Therapy through Yoga Therapy Australia. My path has also led me to transformative 10-day silent retreats in India and an immersive month at Kopan Monastery in Nepal, where I discovered the profound stillness within.
I am passionate about sharing these practices that have greatly supported me through life, particularly through the hardest of life's challenges. In recent years I cared for my husband through his journey with cancer and carried myself through immense grief after his loss. I am grateful to have these practices that can soothe and support when nothing else can.
In today’s fast-paced times, yoga and meditation are essential tools for nurturing our well-being. By simply learning to breathe better, we can calm our minds and soothe our nervous systems. My mission is to share these empowering practices with everyone—because no matter where you are on your journey, you deserve the harmony and peace they can bring.
